I am a 53years old British model dispelling age and beauty stereotypes. My journey started in 2015 but was fairly dormant until November 2017. I was inspired by standing out from the crowd, by being grey while living in a country that does not embrace age. I was cast as Rosemary in a current No1 Rosemary Water Campaign. This ignited my passion for modelling. Since then, I become the first grey model to be signed in the Middle East
What were the biggest initial hurdles to building your business and how did you overcome them?
I had to overcome my conservative up-bringing; of not wanting to be photographed. I learned to love the camera.
Did you ever deal with contention from your family and friends concerning your entrepreneurial pursuits? How did you handle it? What would you do differently in hindsight?
My family are fully behind my new career. My work colleagues were incredibly supportive but slightly concerned at my resignation. My friends are just gobsmacked!
What would you say was the single most influential factor in your business success?
This is my mission in life.
What do you know today that you wish you would have known when you first got started as an entrepreneur?
The past? ...I wouldn’t do anything differently as it wasn’t my time. Being in British Vogue was/is too big a stepping stone to ignore. I can rock this new career. It was buried deep inside me.
What advice would you give to an upcoming entrepreneur locally and internationally?
The advice I would give women over 50 is that (hopefully) we have many more years on this planet. That we aren’t past a new beginning at any age. That going grey or needing reading glasses doesn’t mean you should let yourself go. Unless you want to of course. This is our time.
