Kapumpe Chola's journey to becoming the newly appointed CEO of First National Bank (FNB) Zambia is a testament to her extensive experience and unwavering dedication to the financial services sector. With her effective leadership skills, she officially assumed the role on February 1, 2024. Kapumpe's career trajectory began in 1997 at Barclays Bank Zambia, where she embarked on a Management Trainee program. Her initial role as Treasury Sales Manager within the Global Markets division marked the commencement of a remarkable career. Over the next 14 years at Standard Chartered Bank, she held pivotal positions in Global Markets and Corporate Banking, spanning Zambia, Botswana, and the Africa Regional Office. This tenure involved extensive travel, covering more than 15 African countries and the UK, demonstrating her commitment to diverse and cross-border financial expertise.
In 2015, Kapumpe Chola joined FNB Zambia, contributing significantly to the establishment and subsequent leadership of the Corporate and Investment Banking business. Her role expanded in 2016 when she was appointed as its Head. Under her guidance, the business flourished into one of Zambia's leading CIB entities, offering tailored solutions to both private and public sector corporates. In September 2022, Kapumpe Chola took on the position of Director and Country Head at Rand Merchant Bank (RMB) Botswana, further showcasing her versatility and proficiency in different financial landscapes. Her extensive experience encompasses retail, corporate, and investment banking, reflecting 25 years of diverse involvement in the financial services sector.
Kapumpe holds an MBA in Financial Studies from Nottingham University Business School, coupled with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Public Administration from the University of Zambia. Her academic background is complemented by being a certified Treasury Dealer. Noteworthy are her professional goals, which extend beyond individual success. Kapumpe Chola aspires to leverage her financial expertise and in-depth knowledge of Africa to foster development and trade within the sub-region.
